Overview

Allergies are the immune system’s reaction to an outside source, such as pollen or pet hair. A cold is an infection caused by a virus, often resulting in a runny nose. Colds typically last no longer than a week, but allergies can last for as long as you are exposed to the allergen.

• Itchy
• Clear mucus that doesn’t turn yellow

• Thick, yellow mucus
